Spiders

Redback spiderWhile some spiders can give dangerous bites the most common problem for home owners is usually the webs.

The first step is to identify the extent of the problem and the species that are present.  This will involve an inspection of the premises and its surrounds.

Direct application of chemicals to the sites of the problem is better than general pest control spraying.

TIPS FOR HOMEOWNER:

  • changing the type of outdoor lighting may reduce the number of insects and thus the numbers of spiders
  • clean away and dispose of all garden rubbish as this is a good nesting place for spiders –hunting spiders use webs less than others
  • check the indoor of garages and sheds to keep their breeding down.
  • Use pots for plants that don't have a lip around the top
